Is it really success when you achieve at a level that you already passed? We must DREAM BIGGER than our current capacity. When we choose the safe and complacent route solely pursuing things that we “know” we can do, things that are free of challenges, things that require no measure of faith because there no possibility for us to fail…we are actively cheating ourselves and diluting our life’s purpose. Our fear… fear of being uncomfortable, fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of becoming MORE than we have already grown accustomed to… is the biggest deterrent from achieving true success. Success is defined as “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose” (New Oxford American Dictionary, 2001). So it can be inferred that we must go beyond ourselves, exceeding our current position, in order to be successful. Pursue things (jobs, schooling, relationships, new endeavors) that require you to give your best, challenges you to be better, causes you to think outside the box, and calls for you to do what you have not already done. Give yourself something to strive towards and work for.
Aspirations that require for you to stretch will grow you, ultimately building you higher and closer to your aim. Lastly, preparing ourselves for success can truly be a lot less cumbersome than it sounds. We can start off small. Aim to apply yourself a bit more than you did yesterday. Maybe even start revisiting dreams that you disqualified yourself from before even giving them a fighting chance. Together, let’s become allergic to complacency and make striving towards our purpose a part of our daily regimen✨
